As timber is getting more popular in construction around the world, steel-to-timber connection design frequently required from structural engineers. As any other connection, steel-to-timber connections have to be checked according to AISC, Eurocode and other building standards.
Steel-to-timber connectionΒ design was added to theΒ IDEA StatiCa version 20.Β It is another step of enabling users to design and code-check various types of connections and members from multiple materials. Β
Yet, it is fair to admit the first version of this feature is still limited. Β
You can now obtainΒ results on the connecting steel plates. Code-checks for the steel plates are available for any of the eight supported codes. Code-checks of timber members, bolts, and bowels are not delivered and structural engineer has to figure them out using another tool.

On the other hand, theΒ IDEA StatiCa delivers acting shear and tension forces on each bolt or bowelΒ for the precise manual code-check.

To help you with designing of steel-to-timber connections, 13 new templates were added to the application wizard.

This feature is available for theΒ EnhancedΒ version of IDEA StatiCa Steel.
