IDEA StatiCa, the world-leading software for analysis and design of steel connections and concrete members, is now patented.
We are thrilled to announce IDEA StatiCa connection design has officially been patented!
After nearly six years since we initiated the process to protect our intellectual property, more specifically the unique approach we use for connection design, we are proud to say it has been officially recognised by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Structural engineering has always been an industry pioneering new technologies. For example, it was the first to widely adopt the finite element analysis. Structural engineers around the world use FEA-based software to analyse and design buildings/structures of all types. However, the application of FEA is limited to the overall analysis of the structure, the global analytical model. It has now been more than 10 years since our CEO, Lubomir Sabatka, and professor from the Czech Technical University in Prague, Frantisek Wald, discussed the idea of using FEA for steel connection design. Since then, the game has changed significantly.
Fast-forward to November 2020, after many years of research and development, IDEA StatiCa’s unique approach to connection design is patented. Every one of our 4200 customers around the globe took a leap of faith when migrating to our solution from their previously trusted tech. A change towards faster, safer, and more precise designs. This is a great way of showing they’ve all made the right decision and that they’re now ahead of the rest!
